TECHNICAL DATA SHEET

Product information

Calcium and magnesium salts determine water hardness, the main cause of scale buildup and damage to plumbing systems, boilers, kettles, faucets, and appliances. If your water hardness is higher than 15° French degrees, it's a good idea to install an ion-exchange water softener. In addition to solving limescale problems, installing a water softener is important because it reduces energy costs and detergent consumption, leaving your skin hydrated and your clothes clean.

GEL water softeners are:

• Compact in design and small in size

• Efficient in reducing hardness and washing resins, and with reduced consumption

• Complete with electronic timer for automatic management of regeneration in time, pure volume or volume/time mode.

COMPACT SERIES

The Compact series ion exchange cabinet water softeners are complete with:
• 20 µm self-cleaning filter
• Mixing valve
• Electronic system (timer) for automatic management of regeneration in time, pure volume or volume/time mode.
Furthermore:
• They retain solid impurities
• Removes up to 10 ppm of iron and manganese
•The easy-to-use five-button programmer timer indicates: time of day, frequency in days and regeneration mode, amount of hardness, iron and manganese, exchange capacity, duration of backwash, amount of salt consumed with each regeneration, instantaneous water consumption.

Limescale causes problems. Here's why softening your water is a good idea: You save up to 20% on electricity and gas bills because your plumbing and heating system is protected and your appliances are more efficient. You save up to 90% on extraordinary maintenance costs.

Clothes last longer. Your linens are cleaner and your skin is hydrated.
Save over 60% on detergents and personal hygiene products. Save a lot of time on household cleaning.

The Compacts are made of a plastic hydropneumatic valve head with an electronic timer; the plastic cylinder is lined with fiberglass. All equipment that comes into contact with drinking water is made of top-quality materials in accordance with Ministerial Decree 174/2004.

Compact - Installation
• Compacts must be installed by qualified personnel, in a dry place protected from frost and sunlight.
• After having verified the correct installation, GEL specialized personnel perform testing and start-up.
• Provide a 230V power outlet.
• Install a safety filter upstream of the softener.
• Use flexible pipes or anti-vibration joints to make the hydraulic connections of the softener to the system.
• Position a free (non-pressurized) drain at a height below the brine tank “overflow.”
• Install an autoclave with pressures lower than 1.5 bar.
• Install a pressure reducer with pressures above 4 bar.
• Install a non-return valve after the meter.
NB. For details on timer programming, please refer to the Compact water softener use and maintenance manual.

Compact - Maintenance
• Periodically clean the filter cartridge upstream of the water softener.
• Clean the brine tank every six months.
• Periodically check and replenish the salt in the brine tank (according to the instructions of the specialized technician).
• Check the hardness of the water supplied every two months.
• Periodically check that the salt level in the brine tank is higher than the water level.
