The Smart Detector R290 sensor allows Polo to be installed in particularly confined spaces.
The sensor is designed to detect R290 refrigerant gas, with high sensitivity and fast response, making it ideal for domestic and industrial applications in gas leak detection.
It features low sensitivity to alcohol, smoke and kitchen fumes, reducing false alarms.

The Smart Detector R290 sensor allows you to fulfill the obligations of the CEI EN IEC 60335-2-40:2024+A1:2024 standard and allows Polo to be installed in particularly restricted spaces, as shown in the following table:

The R290 Smart Detector sensor is equipped with a sensing element capable of detecting propane.
The gas sensor is designed to detect R290 refrigerant gas, with high sensitivity and fast response, making it ideal for domestic and industrial applications.

Its structure includes an internal heating element and a gas-sensitive layer made of tin oxide (SnO₂). The sensor operates at 5V, has low power consumption (<750mW) and offers long-term stability.
It comes with a plastic casing and an adhesive element that allows you to stick it under the Polo air conditioner.
It features a status LED and an audible alarm.
It connects to the Polo main board via an RS485 cable, included in the package.
The sensor is factory calibrated and no recalibration is necessary.
The sensor is compatible with Polo heat pump models (Polo 10 K and Polo 12 K) and is not compatible with Polo 8K Cold Only.
Field of application
The sensor is calibrated to detect any refrigerant gas leak, starting from a concentration of 500 ppm, which is 40 times lower than the flammable gas concentration defined by the standard for R290 gas (LFL – lower flammability limit).
In the event of a leak, the sensor LED flashes, emits an acoustic alarm signal at regular intervals, and activates the procedure for making the room and Polo safe: the compressor is turned off, and the internal room is ventilated at maximum speed for 5 minutes.
The fan connected to the external environment is activated cyclically so as to quickly eliminate any traces of refrigerant gas.
During this period, it will not be possible to turn off Polo.
During monitoring operation, the green LED on the sensor simply remains lit.
