TECHNICAL DATA SHEET
Open Expansion Vessels are used as safety accessories in heating systems where, for regulatory reasons, closed expansion vessel systems cannot be installed. In Italy, for generators powered by non-pulverized solid fuels, such as water-fired fireplaces, open expansion vessel systems still represent the simplest and most economical solution. The expansion vessel consists of a covered container to which the safety pipes, vent pipe, overflow pipe, supply pipe, and system fill pipe must be connected. Its function is to absorb the increase in water volume resulting from the increase in temperature.

Cordivari Stainless Steel Expansion Vessel
The expansion vessel consists of a covered container that connects the safety pipes, vent pipe, overflow pipe, supply pipe, and system fill pipe. Ideal for open-circuit heating systems (thermal fireplaces, biomass boilers), its function is to absorb the increase in water volume resulting from the increase in temperature. The expansion vessel must be located above the highest point reached by the water circulating in the system and must have an expansion volume no less than the expansion volume of all the water contained in the system, which value must be specified in the design. If necessary, multiple interconnected vessels can be used instead of a single vessel.
